FlameRat

FlameRats are the heavy infantry of the Old Guard faction. They carry flamethrowers that can incinerate any ground unit composed of flesh, including synthetic flesh. The flamer emits a high pressure stream of flammable liquid that ignites upon contact with the atmosphere, creating a fireball that explodes when it reaches a certain temperature. Because of this, the storage tanks must be carried by a helper rat so that in the event of a catastrophic rupture, the lead rat survives, for he alone carries the sacred knowledge that allows the construction of additional flamers. This manufaction is carried out by using parts scavenged from around his birth nest site. It is an ancient tradition and knowledge is passed down from lead to helper upon the completion of a helper rat’s third mission, after which he is promoted to lead a unit of his own. Since very few helper rats survive even their first mission, a FlameRat unit is a rare and valuable resource on the battlefield.
